I recently had the joy of photographing a session with Thomas and and Katie and their beautiful family at the picturesque Midlothian Mines Park in Richmond, Virginia. This vibrant family includes Evan, who is 8 years old, and his sister Nora, who is 6. The historic setting with its lush trails made for an ideal backdrop, and I feel grateful to have captured their family moments in such a beautiful location.

The session was filled with laughter and playful energy from the start. Evan and Nora were full of smiles as they explored the park, and their enthusiasm was utterly contagious. They're big fans of "Star Wars," and it was delightful to see them channel their favorite characters while playing around the park. This led to some wonderfully candid shots that truly capture their adventurous spirits.

The family told me they love spending time together playing board games. It was easy to see how this shared pastime brought them closer, as the kids showed off their teamwork with joyful expressions during our session.

Thomas and Katie both share a love for Disney, and it's clearly passed down to Evan and Nora. Nora especially loves to twirl around like a Disney princess, which she did during our shoot, creating some magical moments that are sure to be cherished.

We also talked about their fondness for video games, and it was fun to hear Evan describe his latest gaming conquest with so much excitement! Capturing these little stories through my lens is what makes sessions like this so special.

This session at Midlothian Mines Park was a genuine reminder of what family is all about—love, laughter, and enjoying the simple moments together.
